WHO YOU ARE:

We are looking for an entry level graphic designer for our Peterborough location. The candidate must be creative and demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for design and architecture, staying up to date with the latest design trends, tools, and techniques.  The successful individual must be detail orientated and self-motivated to meet deadlines within this busy firm. Our firm works collaboratively and strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary. As this is a hybrid position the successful candidate must be able to manage distractions, stay on task and be a self-starter. As a Junior Graphic Designer, you will be working closely with the Director of Communication Strategies assisting in a wide variety of graphic materials and maintaining a high standard for the visual aesthetic.

YOUR ABILITIES:

  • A firm understanding of graphic design fundamentals, layout, composition hierarchy, typography, and colour theory.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Communication Strategies to develop design concepts that align with either our brand objectives or client marketing goals.
  • Follow design direction and turn concepts into polished assets.
  • A receptive attitude to creative direction and adapting to client changes.
  • Develop branding strategies in collaboration with the Director of Communication Strategies.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, shifting priorities, ensuring timely delivery and quality designs.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Familiar with digital and print production file preparation.
  • Basic understanding of video and sound editing and familiar with (Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects) software an asset.
  • Understanding of UI/UX design principals an asset.
  • Knowledge of Squarespace CMS an asset.
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS an asset.

Quality Assurance / Quality Control

  • be accountable and take personal responsibility for your work; and
  • promote best practices through continuing education and integrating lessons learned.

Studio and Culture

  • support and help foster the studio culture, goals, and strategic plan;
  • coordinate and work collaboratively;
  • assist the Principals in building and maintaining strong relationship with clients and consultants; and
  • assist in the day-to-day operation of the Studio.

Key Skills / Experience:

  • Post-secondary diploma in graphic design.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates strong design abilities, and creativity.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, proactive attitude, highly collaborative and a supportive team player.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

  • 2 initial pre-screen questions via email.

  • 1st interview with the Administrative Principal and the Director of Communication Strategies.
  • All applicants will be notified of whether they will advance.
  • Exercise to prepare in advance of the 2nd
  • 2nd interview with all Principals of Lett.
  • Decision and offer within 2 weeks of commencing the interview process.
