GREY BRUCE HEALTH UNIT IS THE RECIPIENT OF DESIGN AND SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS
2010
The Grey Bruce Health Unit has recently been the recipient of the North American Copper in Architecture Award, Canadian Urban Institute Brownie Award, Natural Resources Canada ecoEnergy Award, and a Cultural Award by the City of Owen Sound. In addition, the facility has also received a Gold designation in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design from the Canadian Green Building Council.
The Copper Development Association Inc. sponsors the Copper in Architecture Award for outstanding use of architectural copper and copper alloys. See their website for details of the award and the winning projects.
The Canadian Urban Institute Brownie Award recognizes excellence in brownfield redevelopment. The Grey Bruce Health Unit occupies a site along the Owen Sound waterfront, on land that was thought to be unusable due to industrial contamination. The project will act as a catalyst for development along the waterfront. See their website for more information on the Brownie Award and the brownfield redevelopment by Grey Bruce.
