Principal Emeritus of Lett Architects, Bill has a fifty-year history in the field of Architecture; forty of those years in the role of partner and principal. He was educated at the School of Architecture at the University of Toronto and is a member of the Ontario Association of Architects. He was inducted as a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada in 1998.

Having worked in offices in Ottawa, San Francisco, and Toronto after graduating, he formed his own firm in 1968, William Lett Architects, which was responsible for various institutional, commercial, and residential projects. In 1973, he entered into partnership with Peter J. Smith in Lett/Smith Architects - a successful partnership of 30 years.  In 1995, William opened the Peterborough office of Lett/Smith Architects and in February 2004 the Partnership was amicably dissolved to allow each partner to pursue work in their fields of expertise.

William was inducted into the Peterborough Walk of Fame in July of 2005 for his architectural contributions in the City.

He continues to be involved with various projects in the Studio.
